Crochet Hack: 3 Strands of Yarn from 1

Have you ever found a crochet pattern that asks you to hold 3 strands of yarn together as you work? Did you put the pattern aside because you didn’t want to have to buy 3 skeins of 1 color just to complete a quick project? This is the hack for you! In this crochet hack tutorial, you will learn a clever technique to transform a single strand of yarn into three, maximizing the yarn’s potential and adding versatility to your crochet projects. This simple yet effective trick allows you to create thicker and more textured fabric without having to purchase additional yarn.

Watch the video to learn how to make 3 strands from 1 skein in seconds! This is one of my favorite tricks. With the tripled yarn, you’ll be able to create unique textures, sturdy stitches, and beautiful patterns in your crochet work. I use it for amigurumi, belt pouches, beanies, and more!

The Love of a Hectic Holiday Season

Every year from October through December, I am much more busy than the rest of the year. Long ago, when school had started back up, I was busy reacclimating myself to the rigors of a schedule, homework, and extra-curricular activities (hello, fellow band kids!). As I got older, the end of the year became a time when I was busy at my retail job, where the Christmas rush was in full swing.

Have you ever gone shopping early on Black Friday? And did you see dozens of frazzled employees trying to keep up with a swarm of (usually grumpy) customers? I used to be one of those unfortunate employees. Yep, there I was behind a cash register at 4am, or running to “the back” to make sure a sale item was actually out of stock. Whew. I don’t miss that at all!

Thankfully now my busy season is full of crochet. Of course I have to say that I prefer this to anything that retail management had to throw at me!

Whether I’m whipping up Holiday themed goodies, gifts for my family, or gifts for YOUR family – I love the range of projects I complete around the holidays. My favorite this year was the Indoor Snowball Kit, which was a big hit over at my Etsy shop.

Is this your busiest time of year, too? How to you spend your holiday season? What’s your favorite holiday crochet project?

Drop a comment and let me know!
